In late November, Russian and Chinese military vessels and aircrafts have navigated near Japanese territory. In the Defense ministers’ meeting between
Japan and China in Laos, Japan’s Defense minister NAKATANI Gen conveyed Japan’s concerns about Chinese assertive military activities.
On the other hand, there are some signs on change. Japan and China hold the summit and the Defense ministerial meeting in November. China delivered its
intentions to remove the buoys in the Japan’s EEZ near the Senkakus.

Japan Coast Guard (JCG) daily updates the statistical data on the number of China Coast Guard vessels entering in the contiguous zone around the Senkaku
Islands and intruding into Japanese territorial waters. The below is from the website of JCG.

China has admitted that its military aircraft violated Japanese airspace on August 26. China reportedly said that it was unintentional and was caused by
“airflow.” On the other hand, Japanese sources have raised doubts on this explanation, because Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s fighter
jets that scrambled against the Chinese aircraft did not report any turbulence.

Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) confirmed a Russian military aircraft, the IL-20 ELINT, flying from Russia in the Sea of Japan on November 21. This aircraft flew to South over the Sea of Japan and then
tuned back to the continent.

Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) confirmed a Chinese naval vessel, the Luyang II class destroyer (hull number 153), sailing southwest in the waters 120 km northeast of Miyako Island on
November 27. This vessel then crossed the Miyako strait and navigated to the Pacific Ocean.
